Cozy Winter Tablescape

When the mercury starts dipping, the days shorten and the leaves begin turning those amazing orangy red hues, I happily topple into cozy mode.  I love to entertain in the fall/winter months and love making my guests feel warm and cozy with a roaring fire, a good glass of wine and an amazing meal.

Next to your menu, your table setting is the most important element of  successful entertaining.  It’s your opportunity to set the mood for your gathering.

There are a few simple steps you can follow to ensure your guests are treated to an eye catching table that will be the beginning of an enchanting gathering.

Keeping notes on ideas for future tablescapes is a good practice to get into.  When perusing Pinterest or Instagram you’ll find an abundance of beautiful inspiration.  Save photos and make notes so the next time you have company for dinner, you’ll have a wealth of ideas to choose from.

Begin by deciding on a theme or color scheme for your tablescape.  Once that’s done it’s time to gather  all the materials you’ll need.   Start by shopping your home, both inside and out.  Use colorful leaves and/or pine cones that have fallen in the yard to bring a bit of nature to your table.   To create a comfortable and inviting table setting include lots of warm colors, plenty of texture and of course candles.  The glow of lit candles just oozes cozy charm.

Include unexpected items in your tablescape such as vintage books, to add height and dimension and lanterns to add interest.  Make sure your napiery and chargers (if using) are in keeping with the theme/color scheme of the tablescape.

Now that you’ve set an amazing table and cooked a fabulous meal, it’s time to sit back and enjoy the company of good friends!
